#RSDFillTheGap to celebrate the original Record Store Day date

Tomorrow Saturday 18th April would have been Record Store Day and Record Store Day have joined forces with BBC 6 Music to mark the occasion. Record Store Day is launching a fun online campaign called #RSDFilltheGap where music lovers can pledge to buy the 1 record missing from their collection via their local record shop's online platform.

On Saturday 18th April, BBC 6 Music will be supporting the campaign by celebrating the

unique spirit of comradeship and entrepreneurial ingenuity that even in today’s challenging conditions has enabled so many shops to keep serving their customers in an online world

with a range of programming and artist interviews.

The initiative aims to help drive sales of albums online as hundreds of independent record

stores turn to online platforms amid the COVID-19 lockdown.

Lots of record shops are still operating online and delivering vinyl and CDs to their customers throughout the crisis as many music fans have found their local record shop to be a lifeline during the isolation period.

Alongside the store locator on recordstoreday.co.uk, OfficialCharts.com have also launched an interactive record store finder, showcasing the 120+ independent stores across the country that will deliver records direct to your door. The map is shareable and embeddable, just paste in the iframe embed code (in notes to editors) in on your web page like a YouTube video embed. View map preview here.

#RSDFilltheGap takes place alongside other industry campaigns #LoveRecordStores, Record Store of the Day and #IsolationAlbums which have been a huge success in supporting the sector with high profile artist support and labels reminding the public of the power of music during these challenging times.

So if you love your local record store now is the time to show your support by buying the record that will Fill the Gap in your collection.
